Back to the 20s

I’ve always had a love for the 1920s. Everything about it seems carefree and extravagant. Learning about the twenties in AP American History and reading The Great Gatsby in English Honors only furthered my fondness for the period.

Now, I’ve noticed, many other people have acquired a love for the decade! Recently I’ve seen influences from the twenties all over: in music, in fashion, and in pop culture. Needless to say I love it!!

mink pink cleopatra dress

I love this Mink Pink dress so so much. It has a higher neckline but a shorter hem, which was a trend in the 1920s. Also, the print on the top half, with the shapes and stripes, is similar to those popular then.

modcloth vintage its about chime clutch

This vintage clutch is from Modcloth and everything about it screams 1920s. The beading is phenomenal and the off-white and tan colors were so very popular in that decade.

parker finn dress

Beading, beading, and more beading! Needless to say I’m utterly obsessed with this 20s inspired cocktail dress from Parker NY!

Even music is being influences by the 1920s! Will.i.am,  the electro-pop artist, released his new song “Bang Bang” a few weeks ago which surprisingly has a vintage twist to it! Take a listen, it’s really catchy!

“We want more! We want more [Prints]!”

As the weather gets warmer and warmer, I find myself gravitating way more to bright, colorful pieces rather than the mute, monotone pieces I used to gravitate towards in the winter months. Spring is overall a happy season and it just makes me want to wear happy clothes!

Bold patterns and eye-catching colors have flooded every store out there and I can’t wait to get my hands on some unique pieces. I’m also really excited because yellows and oranges are really in this summer; I’ve always wanted to try out those colors but I could never find many pieces that I liked that were yellow or orange.

anthro dashka stitched blouse

I can always find one-of-a-kind pieces at Anthropology; that’s why I love that store so much! This pale pink ruffled peplum blouse is unique in its structure and pattern. I need to take a trip to Anthro soon!

parker emmy jacket

This jacket could be so versatile because of all the colors in it. It’s the perfect summer blazer and can be dressed up or dressed down. I actually met the designer for Parker NY and went to their NYC showroom. It was one of the best experiences of my life. They pride themselves on their unique patterns! Check them out!

modcloth new to the block bag

Isn’t this bag from Modcloth beyond adorable?! It’s so dainty and preppy that I wish I owned it. The combination of colors and the splash of polka dots makes this adorable bag a necessity!

lulus can you zig it? blue chevron print dress

No print screams summer more than chevron! This casual dress is perfect to wear for a day in town or a dinner by the coast. I love the stark contrast between the white and the cobalt blue. Swoon!!

The other day I was out shopping for a bunch of presents I needed to by for my friend’s and family’s birthdays and I got a little sidetracked and feel in LOVE with this peplum top by BUFFALO by David Bitton. I’ve never seen a print like this before; it’s like a brocade-animal print. I had to buy it. Styling it will be so much fun!!

Kendall and Kylie’s Clothing Line

Kendall and Kylie Jenner, the famous half sisters of the Kardashians, just released that they are working on a clothing line coming out in spring 2013. I’m bouncing off the walls excited for this because I totally admire their style. They both have this polished rock and roll look that is so unique and original. According to the girls, the collection will feature t-shirts, blouses, pants, jackets, and accessories. They haven’t released the name or where it is going to be sold at but I hope it’s affordable; I already know I am going to want it all!

…and school begins

The late nights, the pool days, and the suns rays are all coming to an end as school comes back in session all over the country. And, although I love nothing more than sitting on the beach with the newest gossip mag, I was kind of looking forward to going back to school because I’d get reunited with all of my friends again.

I wasn’t feeling too peppy when I woke up at 6 am on my first day, but as the day went by I was more than happy with all of the people in my classes and all of the teachers that I have. The work load, like always, seems like so much that it could ultimately be the death of me.

On the first day, it was perfectly warm and breezy so I wore a vibrant coral tank with gold hardware, black denim shorts, metallic gladiator sandals, and a chunky gold statement necklace! It was the best combo of summer style and fall flair (and I got tons of compliments! woohoo).

My schedule is a little crazy and it’s loaded with advanced classes; I told a friend what classes I was taking and she replied, “Do you want to die?” That’s how I figured out that this year will be, well, hell.

I’m already getting hours and hours of homework and I’ve only been in school for four day! It’s INSANITY, I swear teachers have no mercy. So… in case you were wondering why I haven’t been posting so much anymore it is solely because I do homework from the minute I get home from the minute I go to sleep. Fun right?

I hope you guys have better luck with school than I do! I’ll post again this week hopefully xoxo

Friday Favorites!

Hello Internet! It’s Friday! This past week I spent trying to finish my summer assignments, which I still haven’t finished yet, browsing the internet, and running random errands. These are just a few of the things I was obsessed with this week, I hope you guys like them as much as I do. Enjoy!

1. Favorite Accessory:

Fereira Handbag. Aldo. $50. I want it soooooooooo bad!

2. Favorite Makeover:

Jessica Alba trades her shiny dark brown locks for a trendy ombré do. Love it!

3. Favorite Baby Laugh:

I can’t help but laugh!

4. Favorite Street Style:

Victorias Secret model Alessandra Ambrosio wears fabulous turquoise jeggings, $168, Tom Ford sunglasses, $490, and a stylish Rag & Bone fedora, $175.

5. Favorite Nail Polish:

Pinking of You, OPI. $7.50. Light nail polish is so classy but it’s never outdated! SCORE!

6. Favorite Song:

Prima Donna- Marina and the Diamonds. I never knew I would love British pop music this much!

7. Favorite Celeb:

I love Lauren Conrad! She’s absolutely PERFECT!

8. Favorite Blogger:

I was browsing through some blogs and I found http://www.MyStylePill.com and I fell in love. Christine uploads pictures of herself in her fabulous wardrobe almost daily; she has such a colorful, flirty-fun style that makes me swoon.

9. Favorite Quote:

This is actually a quote in Spanish (sorry for the language switch!) but I really like it. In English it means ‘Don’t stress yourself out about the future, for neither the present is definite.’ A lot of times people forget this and sometimes people really need to let go and trust the universe.

10. Favorite TV Show:

I highly doubt I am not the only who was left completely in shock after the season finale of Pretty Little Liars. Who knew it would be so scary! Can’t wait to see what drama happens next season!

That’s it for this week! I hope everyone had as good of a week as I did (: Have a great weekend girlies xoxo

It’s Back-to-School time!

Got back-to-school jitters? Me too.

There are lots of good things about going back to school but there are also reasons to be nervous. Who will be in my classes? Am I going to have nice teachers? Will I have a good lab partner? Where will I sit at lunch?

And most importantly……

WHAT DO I WEAR ON THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL?!

Everyone knows that you have to dress to impress but so many girls don’t know what outfit would be the perfect outfit to wear.

To make sure you showcase your glowing summer skin, you might want to wear a bright (neon?) color or a crazy pattern. If you’re a little bit edgier, you might want to wear a vintage band tee or a distressed tank; it totally feels summery.

Tank tops or short sleeve shirts are usually the way to go because it’s still hot when it’s time to go back to school. If it seems a little chilly outside, then don a cute cardigan. On the bottom, both shorts and skinny jeans are acceptable. White shorts are always a great option because they will show off your sun kissed legs!

I always like to wear my hair down on the first day of school, but that may just be me. My go-to hairstyle is beach-y waves with my bangs braided and pinned back.

You may want to finish off your look with some jewelry (earrings and a necklace?) and a super cute pair of flip flops. Go crazy with your accessories, it’s a fun way to bring your personality into an outfit!

Good luck on your first day of school! I hope these tips helped you out! xoxo

Flat-tastic!

As we all know school is about to start up again and, like me, I bet everyone else isn’t so enthusiastic about going back.

But, since I have to go back I thought I would feel better about going to school if I had a super cute backpack to put all my new school supplies in. So my mom, my sister, and I went backpack hunting today and we could not find a single socially acceptable backpack!! We scoured the shelves and decided to switch gears and look for some cute tote bags; they could be used as backpacks too! But still no luck.

On the bright side, in a few of the stores we got a little bit distracted and wandered into the shoe department. I haven’t been shoe shopping in the longest time! As I walked through the rows I fell in love with more and more pairs of shoes and I couldn’t not stop trying them on!

The flats stole the show, though. There were flats in bright colors and deep tones, with stones and with studs, printed and solid! They were all perfect, I was in heaven.

I want them all.

I LOVE SHOES XOXO

FALL TREND ALERT: Polka Dots!

So as much as I love the summer (and trust me, I loooove the summer), I am really looking forward to fall fashion. There is just something about wearing plush faux fur in the chilly autumn air that makes the season oh-so wonderful.

I love looking forward to the cable knit sweaters and the corduroy skinnies, the combat boots and the knee-high riding boots, and even the leather moto-jacket and the super snuggly scarves. But what I like most about are the colors. I love the emerald, the chocolate, the maroon, and the gold colors of the new garments hanging in store windows and on chic bodies. I also adore the orange and red of the leaves and the grey tone of the sky.

By late August and early September, I am ready to trade in my florals for more seasonal patterns. One of the new trendy fall patterns is oversized polka dots (along with the traditional plaids and muted stripes). Lucky for me I spotted the polka-trend prematurely and bought a super fab button-down sheer polka dot shirt from Forever 21 on my last shopping spree! Who knew it would be perfectly in-style for the fall 2012?!

Even my favorite mag, Seventeen, spotted the polka dot trend! YES!

My Hamptons Getaway

Sometimes all you need is a quick little vacay to whisk you away from your troubles and to refresh your mind!

I did just that! One of my best friends, Danielle, has a house near the bay in beautiful East Hampton, New York. She and I stayed with her grandma in an adorable four bedroom house with a pool and all! I had such a wonderful time there; I stayed for three days and two nights (which was a little short but just enough!)

I was living the care free life! We swam in the bay, tanned at the beach, shopped in all of the boutiques, and went out for dinner and ice cream. The best part of it all was to be able to do it all with my best friend. I really had an amazing time and i don’t think I’ll ever forget it!

Danielle and I walked to the bay that’s right near her grandma’s house! It was so warm and breezy and the water was cool and calm, just perfect! I have never been anywhere like it! (Both pieces of my bathing suit are from Target!)
We took this pic when we were out shopping in the stylish South Hampton! We were playing dress up in LF (one of my fav stores!) and we found these crazy outfits! Danielle is wearing a wild studded tie dye demin jacket and I’m wearing a sequin cocktail dress! Check out our Jeffrey Campbell shoes too!! We love them!!
On one of the  nicer days I was in East Hampton, we went to this spectacular beach called Indian Wells and it was such a clean and private  beach. There were only a few other beach go-ers! It was so calm and quiet (besides the strong rip tides!!) We took the opportunity to get some sun and take some pictures!
In other news….. I took my road test on Friday and I passed! I am now an official licensed driver!! Watch out for me cruising down the street!  xoxo
