Snow Already?!

Hey Dolls,

Today was just a regular day of school; I had AM dance class, American History, and English. Then, as I was sitting (zoning out probably) in AP Biology, I looked out the window to find out that it was snowing. Yes, SNOWING, in November! Personally, I think that it is still too early in the year for it to snow; it’s not even winter yet.

Don’t get me wrong, I looovee when it snows. I just hate the cold. Weird right? I know. I tend to get cold very easily to I have to bundle up with lots of layers.

By the time I got home, it was snowing pretty heavily and the wind was blowing it around so that it was the inside of a snow globe! It was picturesque, I had to run around in the snow for a minute. It hasn’t stopped snowing for a minute since it started, it’s a true winter wonderland outside because everything is white.

I just stepped outside for a moment to take in the crazy weather and saw enormous fluffy flakes falling quickly and dancing in the wind. So pretty! It’s wicked cold out though. I put on the biggest sweater and the coziest slippers I own and made a nice cup of spice tea, yum.

Stay warm New England!

Field Trips & Fashion

Hey dolls!

Yesterday I had my third precollege class at The Fashion Institute of Technology and it is just amazing. I love going so much and now that I take the class I look forward to Saturday’s more than ever! I think it’s just the fact that I can dress however I want and be in the city all day. I learn so many new things about designers and the market that my brain can barely keep!

During class yesterday we took a field trip to the ever-so-urban Meatpacking District. There, we split up into small groups and wandered 14th street. We were encouraged to stop in all of the couture boutiques and look around at all of the stuff that was once on the runway.

My group went to Moschino and Alexander McQueen and a huge thrift store! I fell in love with every single garment in Moschino. Everything from the shapes to the material to the  colors were absolutely stunning; they balanced girly with edgy perfectly. The Alexander McQueen boutique was another world entirely. It was set up like a museum, I didn’t know if I was allowed to touch any of it! I was in awe at everything I saw; I had to snap some pictures. The thrift store was super chic with vendors that sold records to vendors that sold bracelets made of cutlery. There were racks of vintage furs and old band tees and everything you could imagine. I found these two super cute hand made rings and I loved them so much I had to buy one!

We all met together in the Chelsea Markets, which was adorably decorated for halloween with spiderwebs and ghosts hanging from the ceiling and purple lights! Oh, how I love the city.

We might be going to SoHo next week! AH I’m beyonndd excited!

Dance Moms Meet and Greet

I know most of you watch the show Dance Moms on Bravo, and some may even obsessed fangirls like me! I danced practically my whole life and when I was little I always dreamed of being a prima ballerina, portraying Odette in Swan Lake or dancing the Kitri variation in the Don Quixote Ballet.

I am sooo fascinated with Dance Moms because I probably could have seriously trained in dance my whole life to be as good as those girls are right now. They are all just so talented and so disciplined and SO YOUNG!! I hate Abby though, she is too hard on the girls; they need to have a little fun too.

So Melissa, Maddie and Mackenzie’s mom, posted on twitter that she was going to be doing a meet and greet at the mall in my town with Christi, Chloe’s mom, Maddie, and Chloe! And of course my sister and I haaaddd to go!

So my sister, my sisters friend, and I waited on line for a little more than three hours inside of the Westchester Mall (which was actually ideal because there was an enormous storm outside) until we finally got to meet the girls. We were rushed through pretty quickly but we still got to chat with them for a minute! They are so perfect!

It’s Back-to-School time!

Got back-to-school jitters? Me too.

There are lots of good things about going back to school but there are also reasons to be nervous. Who will be in my classes? Am I going to have nice teachers? Will I have a good lab partner? Where will I sit at lunch?

And most importantly……

WHAT DO I WEAR ON THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL?!

Everyone knows that you have to dress to impress but so many girls don’t know what outfit would be the perfect outfit to wear.

To make sure you showcase your glowing summer skin, you might want to wear a bright (neon?) color or a crazy pattern. If you’re a little bit edgier, you might want to wear a vintage band tee or a distressed tank; it totally feels summery.

Tank tops or short sleeve shirts are usually the way to go because it’s still hot when it’s time to go back to school. If it seems a little chilly outside, then don a cute cardigan. On the bottom, both shorts and skinny jeans are acceptable. White shorts are always a great option because they will show off your sun kissed legs!

I always like to wear my hair down on the first day of school, but that may just be me. My go-to hairstyle is beach-y waves with my bangs braided and pinned back.

You may want to finish off your look with some jewelry (earrings and a necklace?) and a super cute pair of flip flops. Go crazy with your accessories, it’s a fun way to bring your personality into an outfit!

Good luck on your first day of school! I hope these tips helped you out! xoxo

My Hamptons Getaway

Sometimes all you need is a quick little vacay to whisk you away from your troubles and to refresh your mind!

I did just that! One of my best friends, Danielle, has a house near the bay in beautiful East Hampton, New York. She and I stayed with her grandma in an adorable four bedroom house with a pool and all! I had such a wonderful time there; I stayed for three days and two nights (which was a little short but just enough!)

I was living the care free life! We swam in the bay, tanned at the beach, shopped in all of the boutiques, and went out for dinner and ice cream. The best part of it all was to be able to do it all with my best friend. I really had an amazing time and i don’t think I’ll ever forget it!

Danielle and I walked to the bay that’s right near her grandma’s house! It was so warm and breezy and the water was cool and calm, just perfect! I have never been anywhere like it! (Both pieces of my bathing suit are from Target!)
We took this pic when we were out shopping in the stylish South Hampton! We were playing dress up in LF (one of my fav stores!) and we found these crazy outfits! Danielle is wearing a wild studded tie dye demin jacket and I’m wearing a sequin cocktail dress! Check out our Jeffrey Campbell shoes too!! We love them!!
On one of the  nicer days I was in East Hampton, we went to this spectacular beach called Indian Wells and it was such a clean and private  beach. There were only a few other beach go-ers! It was so calm and quiet (besides the strong rip tides!!) We took the opportunity to get some sun and take some pictures!
In other news….. I took my road test on Friday and I passed! I am now an official licensed driver!! Watch out for me cruising down the street!  xoxo

All Packed Up!

Hey Girlies! Ever wondered what to pack and what not to? Me too. And to be honest, I haven’t yet figured out the best to pack. Usually in situations when I’m going on vacation and I need to pack I either 1. not pack nearly enough stuff and always forget important things or 2. pack an excessive amount of stuff in a big, heavy bag and have everything I need. I really don’t know which option is better.

Today I had this problem because tomorrow morning my best friend and I are going to the Hamptons for the next few days! We are going to take a coach bus out there and stay at her granny’s house, how fun right?! I was utterly conflicted whether to bring a smaller bag and risk forgetting the essentials or to bring an elephantine bag which would carry excess stuff.

I chose to bring my (big) Betsey Johnson carrier which pretty much a very large, very stylish duffle bag. It is filled to the brim with bright bikinis, short shorts, and crop tops, just what everyone needs on their vacay! I’m triple checking everything to make I don’t forget anything for my trip because last time I forgot my brush, YIKES.

Also, in preparation for my sweet getaway, I did my own mani-pedi today! In case any of you were wondering… I used Minted by Revlon on my fingers for that effortless chic-ness and Let’s Talk by Sinful Colors on my toes for a little pop of sass.

Lastly, as some of you may know, my family and I went to see Pat Benatar in concert last night at the Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey! I must say, she’s still got it. Pat is 59 years old and she still belts out some high notes and busts some moves! She is quite a legend and a true talent!

I hope you all have fun the this week! I’ll post when I get home ( :

Parks and Pat Benatar

Who doesn’t love the 80’s? It was the era of dreams and the disco!

My family bought season passes for Six Flags back in November so now we’re putting them to good use! We went to the park a little less then a month ago to go on the rides and to see Cobra Starship perform! During the summer, at Six Flags, there are free concerts! Isn’t that so fun?!

Anywayyss… Today we are going to Six Flags again to go see the amazing PAT BENATAR!! My parents really like her and I know some of more popular songs like Love is a Battlefield.

I’m just hoping that the weather holds out because there is a chance of thunderstorms all day. I am going to hopefully put out good vibes by leaving my umbrella home and wearing my black demin cut-offs and my vintage Boston tour shirt!

Wish me luck on all the rides!!

FIT Precollege Program Day 4

Today was such a bittersweet day to say the least. It was the last day of camp, but it was also the best day of the whole camp!

We went on  a field trip to the Lily Kate showroom on 39th street to meet with the designers of the clothing brand Parker! Parker is a small, high-end brand for the chic on-the-go fashionista. Derek, one of the designers, said that he would describe his collection as feminine, easy, comfortable, and noticeable. The company is known for their fabulous shapes, amazing fit, their effortlessness, and, last but not least, their wonderfully bold  patterns!

The owners took my class on a tour of their showroom and we also got a sneak peak on their not-yet-released Resort Collection! I’m in loove with this collection (shhhhh it’s full of rompers and cute dress in fabulous colors!). We also got to look around their design room and their sample room and see all of their past and future designs! It was so amazing.  I feel like I really understand the process and the work involved in designing and producing a clothing line.

Tons and Tons of celebs ah-dore the Parker collections and their products are constantly in magazines and on the starlets so look out for them! The company has only be open for four years and already it’s so successful and so established. You can buy Parker clothing at stores like Intermix and Neiman Marcus or online on a website like shopbop!

Oh boy would I like to intern there…

Here are some pictures from the showroom and the program in general! Enjoy! xoxo

FIT Precollege Program Day 3

I really wish that this program was longer, I looove it!

This morning we watched the documentary called The September Issue and it was actually quite fascinating. It depicted the extensive process behind perfecting and publishing the September issue of the esteemed Vogue magazine. Of course, Anna Wintour, the editor of Vogue and world-wide style guru, starred in much of the video as well as some of her employees.

After watching this movie I respect the pages of magazines way more than I had before; now I just look at a page and muse over how much effort it took to produce that page. The movie takes you behind the scenes of photo shoots, meetings, fashion shows, and much more. If you are interested in the fashion industry and have not yet seen this documentary I would definitely recommend it.

Then in the afternoon, a guest speaker, Tami Ruiz, came to my class to share with us her experiences as the broadcast producer for CBS Saturday Morning. She stressed to us how important attention to detail is and how hard her job actually is. She must make sure everything is perfect for the show and she must minimize the amount of unforeseen problems that may occur on air.

Tami encouraged taking as many different internships as possible (like all of my other teachers!) and she said that exploring the field to find your niche is very important. Today I learned that there is such a huuge difference between print PR and media PR and that I have a LOT more to learn.

P.S. She won two Emmy’s in production!! So cool right?!

Once again I’m excited for tomorrow because we are going to visit a NYC designer showroom! But sadly, tomorrow is my last day of the program and i really think i’m taking a lot out of this experience!

BYE LOVELIES XOXO

FIT Precollege Program Day 2

*yawn* I had such a busy day today so I’m awfully wiped out!

Today was day 2 of my four-day long precollege program at the amazing Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. Same as yesterday my sister, my dad, and myself rode an early train into grand central, then took two subways to find ourselves at the doorsteps of FIT (but of course we had to get a Starbucks frap first!).

My professor for the program is Melissa Stolper, a seasoned publicist who knows the business like the back of her hand. She interned for BCBG and Anne Klein, and worked for many established public relations firms all over Manhattan. I am so grateful that she is my teacher because she provides my class with really useful, relevant, and honest information about the business and how to survive in it! She even worked with Rachel Zoe!!

This morning Melissa brought our class of twenty one high school girls- and one very lucky high school boy- to The Brooks Group, a small but esteemed firm in NYC. We walked to her office, and, I must say, her office is just fabulous. It was all very minimal and mostly white but there were splashes of a deep purple or a bright fuchsia around. There were also plush purple rugs and a dazzling sparkling chandelier above their conference table. It was all very girly and glamorous while maintaining a certain level off professionalism.

ANYWAYS…. Rebecca Brooks opened The Brooks Group when she was only 25 years old!! She was determined to succeed and she slowly built up her client list and grew in popularity in the business. Rebecca’s first client that rose to starlet status was the amazing Racheal Ray! This big break brought tons of work to The Brooks Group and help make them what they are today! Rebecca and her team are so up-to-date with all of the latest trends and the newest gossip and they say that the gossip and the trends are what makes the job so interesting!

Later in the day, after we got back from the trip (and our lunch break) we had a guest speaker come to our class and give us further insight into this crazy industry we call public relations. The speaker was the lovely Nancy Cuocci from Siren Public Relations Inc. Nancy is the account supervisor for the firm which means that she oversees all of the business that goes in and out of the company. Siren, for the most part, deals with smaller jewelry companies and accessory companies and Nancy described how specializing in accessory PR is soo much different than specializing in lifestyle PR. She really opened my eyes to many of the different facets or PR and made a point to stress to the class the importance of getting internships.

I am so thankful to my parents for sending me to this program because without it I would not have learned all that i have so far and I would be blind to all of the career opportunities I have never thought of before. I’m starting to seriously consider fashion PR as a career option for me because it combines something I love, which is fashion/pop culture, with something I’m good at, which is marketing/business.

Tomorrow should be another fun filled day so be sure to check up! xoxo
