FALL TREND ALERT: Polka Dots!

So as much as I love the summer (and trust me, I loooove the summer), I am really looking forward to fall fashion. There is just something about wearing plush faux fur in the chilly autumn air that makes the season oh-so wonderful.

I love looking forward to the cable knit sweaters and the corduroy skinnies, the combat boots and the knee-high riding boots, and even the leather moto-jacket and the super snuggly scarves. But what I like most about are the colors. I love the emerald, the chocolate, the maroon, and the gold colors of the new garments hanging in store windows and on chic bodies. I also adore the orange and red of the leaves and the grey tone of the sky.

By late August and early September, I am ready to trade in my florals for more seasonal patterns. One of the new trendy fall patterns is oversized polka dots (along with the traditional plaids and muted stripes). Lucky for me I spotted the polka-trend prematurely and bought a super fab button-down sheer polka dot shirt from Forever 21 on my last shopping spree! Who knew it would be perfectly in-style for the fall 2012?!

Even my favorite mag, Seventeen, spotted the polka dot trend! YES!

My Hamptons Getaway

Sometimes all you need is a quick little vacay to whisk you away from your troubles and to refresh your mind!

I did just that! One of my best friends, Danielle, has a house near the bay in beautiful East Hampton, New York. She and I stayed with her grandma in an adorable four bedroom house with a pool and all! I had such a wonderful time there; I stayed for three days and two nights (which was a little short but just enough!)

I was living the care free life! We swam in the bay, tanned at the beach, shopped in all of the boutiques, and went out for dinner and ice cream. The best part of it all was to be able to do it all with my best friend. I really had an amazing time and i don’t think I’ll ever forget it!

Danielle and I walked to the bay that’s right near her grandma’s house! It was so warm and breezy and the water was cool and calm, just perfect! I have never been anywhere like it! (Both pieces of my bathing suit are from Target!)
We took this pic when we were out shopping in the stylish South Hampton! We were playing dress up in LF (one of my fav stores!) and we found these crazy outfits! Danielle is wearing a wild studded tie dye demin jacket and I’m wearing a sequin cocktail dress! Check out our Jeffrey Campbell shoes too!! We love them!!
On one of the  nicer days I was in East Hampton, we went to this spectacular beach called Indian Wells and it was such a clean and private  beach. There were only a few other beach go-ers! It was so calm and quiet (besides the strong rip tides!!) We took the opportunity to get some sun and take some pictures!
In other news….. I took my road test on Friday and I passed! I am now an official licensed driver!! Watch out for me cruising down the street!  xoxo

All Packed Up!

Hey Girlies! Ever wondered what to pack and what not to? Me too. And to be honest, I haven’t yet figured out the best to pack. Usually in situations when I’m going on vacation and I need to pack I either 1. not pack nearly enough stuff and always forget important things or 2. pack an excessive amount of stuff in a big, heavy bag and have everything I need. I really don’t know which option is better.

Today I had this problem because tomorrow morning my best friend and I are going to the Hamptons for the next few days! We are going to take a coach bus out there and stay at her granny’s house, how fun right?! I was utterly conflicted whether to bring a smaller bag and risk forgetting the essentials or to bring an elephantine bag which would carry excess stuff.

I chose to bring my (big) Betsey Johnson carrier which pretty much a very large, very stylish duffle bag. It is filled to the brim with bright bikinis, short shorts, and crop tops, just what everyone needs on their vacay! I’m triple checking everything to make I don’t forget anything for my trip because last time I forgot my brush, YIKES.

Also, in preparation for my sweet getaway, I did my own mani-pedi today! In case any of you were wondering… I used Minted by Revlon on my fingers for that effortless chic-ness and Let’s Talk by Sinful Colors on my toes for a little pop of sass.

Lastly, as some of you may know, my family and I went to see Pat Benatar in concert last night at the Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey! I must say, she’s still got it. Pat is 59 years old and she still belts out some high notes and busts some moves! She is quite a legend and a true talent!

I hope you all have fun the this week! I’ll post when I get home ( :

Parks and Pat Benatar

Who doesn’t love the 80’s? It was the era of dreams and the disco!

My family bought season passes for Six Flags back in November so now we’re putting them to good use! We went to the park a little less then a month ago to go on the rides and to see Cobra Starship perform! During the summer, at Six Flags, there are free concerts! Isn’t that so fun?!

Anywayyss… Today we are going to Six Flags again to go see the amazing PAT BENATAR!! My parents really like her and I know some of more popular songs like Love is a Battlefield.

I’m just hoping that the weather holds out because there is a chance of thunderstorms all day. I am going to hopefully put out good vibes by leaving my umbrella home and wearing my black demin cut-offs and my vintage Boston tour shirt!

Wish me luck on all the rides!!

FIT Precollege Program Day 2

*yawn* I had such a busy day today so I’m awfully wiped out!

Today was day 2 of my four-day long precollege program at the amazing Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. Same as yesterday my sister, my dad, and myself rode an early train into grand central, then took two subways to find ourselves at the doorsteps of FIT (but of course we had to get a Starbucks frap first!).

My professor for the program is Melissa Stolper, a seasoned publicist who knows the business like the back of her hand. She interned for BCBG and Anne Klein, and worked for many established public relations firms all over Manhattan. I am so grateful that she is my teacher because she provides my class with really useful, relevant, and honest information about the business and how to survive in it! She even worked with Rachel Zoe!!

This morning Melissa brought our class of twenty one high school girls- and one very lucky high school boy- to The Brooks Group, a small but esteemed firm in NYC. We walked to her office, and, I must say, her office is just fabulous. It was all very minimal and mostly white but there were splashes of a deep purple or a bright fuchsia around. There were also plush purple rugs and a dazzling sparkling chandelier above their conference table. It was all very girly and glamorous while maintaining a certain level off professionalism.

ANYWAYS…. Rebecca Brooks opened The Brooks Group when she was only 25 years old!! She was determined to succeed and she slowly built up her client list and grew in popularity in the business. Rebecca’s first client that rose to starlet status was the amazing Racheal Ray! This big break brought tons of work to The Brooks Group and help make them what they are today! Rebecca and her team are so up-to-date with all of the latest trends and the newest gossip and they say that the gossip and the trends are what makes the job so interesting!

Later in the day, after we got back from the trip (and our lunch break) we had a guest speaker come to our class and give us further insight into this crazy industry we call public relations. The speaker was the lovely Nancy Cuocci from Siren Public Relations Inc. Nancy is the account supervisor for the firm which means that she oversees all of the business that goes in and out of the company. Siren, for the most part, deals with smaller jewelry companies and accessory companies and Nancy described how specializing in accessory PR is soo much different than specializing in lifestyle PR. She really opened my eyes to many of the different facets or PR and made a point to stress to the class the importance of getting internships.

I am so thankful to my parents for sending me to this program because without it I would not have learned all that i have so far and I would be blind to all of the career opportunities I have never thought of before. I’m starting to seriously consider fashion PR as a career option for me because it combines something I love, which is fashion/pop culture, with something I’m good at, which is marketing/business.

Tomorrow should be another fun filled day so be sure to check up! xoxo

Beach Lovin’

There is just something about the beach that makes it such a great place to be. It may be the sound of the sound of the waves rolling onto the shore or maybe the feeling of the sun’s warmth on my skin. Whatever it is… I love it.

I know some people don’t like the beach but I loovve it! It’s the perfect place to kick back and relax, listen to the newest music, flip through the latest magazines, and even scope out the cutest guys! I even like the smell of my sunscreen (it’s coconut)!

As you can probably tell, I went to the beach today with my sister and my friend. We went to Jones Beach which is about an hour drive from where I live but it was worth it because there are not many good beaches in Westchester County (they’re all smelly, yuck!).  The waves were huge today, they were so much fun! We splashed around in the water and laid out in the sun. I say all-in-all it was an enjoyable day.

I just got my park pass for the local beaches around here so when I get my junior license (which sounds be in about a month!!) I can go to the beach whenever I want! Now that would be the life…

Anyways, this was the first time in a very long time that I went to the beach without getting the least bit sunburned! I think I actually got a little tan too! This never happens I usually burn and then peel and I turn back to paleness, but this time was different and i like it!
