The Blackout Look

Hey dolls,

It’s been about a week since Hurricane Sandy hit the East Coast and everything is still a mess. Fallen trees still lay in the middle of streets, traffic lights still don’t work, and no one in New York state has been in school since last Friday. Two thirds of my town still doesn’t have power, and many of them aren’t supposed to have their power restored until Friday. It’s horrible.

If you are one of the unlucky people stuck without lights or heat, here are some easy outfit ideas that are easy to put together and will keep you warm!

The laid back, casual look is quite popular right now. Just throw on a basic pair of leggings or some black jeans on the bottom. Then, on the top, wear a thick boxy sweater or a plain tee and an oversized cardi and you’re all set! To jazz it up you could add cute accessories like a cool bracelet or maybe a funky bag. And if you’re still feeling a chill, a circle scarf would look great with this outfit ( ;

You’re guaranteed a fashionable but practical outfit that you can put together in the dark if you are without power still. To be honest, I love this style. I was lucky enough not to lose electricity but I still wear this look.

Stay warm!

My Fall Topshop Wishlist

Hey dolls!

As the sky turns a dull grey and all the leaves fall off the trees, all I want to do is don a comfy sweater and drink a cup of tea. I’m not a huge fan of the cold weather but I have to admit I love all of the furry scarves and the riding boots that come with it.

Because I had this whole week off from school because of Hurricane Sandy I had a lot of time to scroll through my favorite store’s websites. I rediscovered my love for Topshop and realized that I want EVERYTHING they sell (it’s an unhealthy obsession!)

OOTD: Fall Florals!

The  sun is warm, the breeze is chilly;  it’s definitely autumn. I dug out my favorite fall riding boots and my army green blazer and hit the town! My sister too these pictures of me outside of the Fashion Institute of Technology where we’ve been taking classes on Saturdays. To say the least WE LOVE IT. The classes are college level and they totally have been opening my eyes to so many different things I didn’t even know existed! All of this hands on experience is making me fall more and more in love with fashion!

Field Trips & Fashion

Hey dolls!

Yesterday I had my third precollege class at The Fashion Institute of Technology and it is just amazing. I love going so much and now that I take the class I look forward to Saturday’s more than ever! I think it’s just the fact that I can dress however I want and be in the city all day. I learn so many new things about designers and the market that my brain can barely keep!

During class yesterday we took a field trip to the ever-so-urban Meatpacking District. There, we split up into small groups and wandered 14th street. We were encouraged to stop in all of the couture boutiques and look around at all of the stuff that was once on the runway.

My group went to Moschino and Alexander McQueen and a huge thrift store! I fell in love with every single garment in Moschino. Everything from the shapes to the material to the  colors were absolutely stunning; they balanced girly with edgy perfectly. The Alexander McQueen boutique was another world entirely. It was set up like a museum, I didn’t know if I was allowed to touch any of it! I was in awe at everything I saw; I had to snap some pictures. The thrift store was super chic with vendors that sold records to vendors that sold bracelets made of cutlery. There were racks of vintage furs and old band tees and everything you could imagine. I found these two super cute hand made rings and I loved them so much I had to buy one!

We all met together in the Chelsea Markets, which was adorably decorated for halloween with spiderwebs and ghosts hanging from the ceiling and purple lights! Oh, how I love the city.

We might be going to SoHo next week! AH I’m beyonndd excited!

Mall Overload

The weather here in New York is absolutely perfect. Everyday it’s been sunny and cool with a brisk breeze; ah fall has come. But, with new weather comes a whole new wardrobe! Fall fashion is my fav and I have been dying to get my hands on some patterned leggings and some comfy sweaters. My mom took me shopping at one of our malls and we hit the jackpot! (I’m still missing stuff from my wishlist though…)

What I bought:

1. Light wash demin button down (Forever21)

2. Purple V-neck tee (H&M)

3. White T-shirt (H&M)

4. Green cheetah ombre sweater (H&M)

5. Thick grey sweater (H&M)

6. Black bandeau (Charlotte Russe)

7. Bras (Macy’s)

8. Plum handbag (H&M)

9. Spike necklace (Charlotte Russe)

10. Leaf ring (Aldo)

11. Deep purple infinity scarf (Aldo)

What a haul, phew! I definitely burned a bunch of calories carrying those bags all day! I’m loving the muted and deeper colors for fall this year. Simple pieces are definitely in style right now and jazzing them up with furry scarves or edgy necklaces is the perfect way to do it!

The Perfect Fall Treat!

Happy Autumn!

As the sun sets quicker and the cool breeze rolls in, it is really starting to feel like fall (my favorite season!). The weather we are having in New York is perfect! It’s about 70 degrees and sunny everyday! It’s warm enough to be comfy but it’s chilly enough to be cozy.

In the spirit of this new season I wanted desperately to have some nice, warm hot chocolate, but it was hot in my house! I decided to try out a crazy idea my friend had to FREEZE the hot chocolate!!

All I did was mixed a hot chocolate packet with water and stuck it in the freezer for about an hour. When I took it out, I mixed it up again with my spoon. It looked like a hot chocolate slushie! I topped it off with some  whip cream and chocolate syrup and, bam, I had a delicious frozen hot chocolate! yummmm.

Doesn’t it just look delish?!

FALL TREND ALERT: Polka Dots!

So as much as I love the summer (and trust me, I loooove the summer), I am really looking forward to fall fashion. There is just something about wearing plush faux fur in the chilly autumn air that makes the season oh-so wonderful.

I love looking forward to the cable knit sweaters and the corduroy skinnies, the combat boots and the knee-high riding boots, and even the leather moto-jacket and the super snuggly scarves. But what I like most about are the colors. I love the emerald, the chocolate, the maroon, and the gold colors of the new garments hanging in store windows and on chic bodies. I also adore the orange and red of the leaves and the grey tone of the sky.

By late August and early September, I am ready to trade in my florals for more seasonal patterns. One of the new trendy fall patterns is oversized polka dots (along with the traditional plaids and muted stripes). Lucky for me I spotted the polka-trend prematurely and bought a super fab button-down sheer polka dot shirt from Forever 21 on my last shopping spree! Who knew it would be perfectly in-style for the fall 2012?!

Even my favorite mag, Seventeen, spotted the polka dot trend! YES!
